Bringing back the smile to our children
Our children in Northern and Eastern Kenya (both in and outside camps) are no longer smiling due to the drought that has befallen the region. The reports we are receiving via the media indicate that our children are dying on daily basis due to hunger. Although ANPPCAN has not been in Emergency and Relief activities, collective responsibility is being called for to tackle the unfortunate situation. Therefore, ANPPCAN wants to feed at least 1000 children for 4 months or so. We want also to provide them with water.
1. We have been reliably informed that a tone of Unimix costs US$1,166 and can feed 100 children for 4 – 5 months. Therefore, to feed and provide water for at least 1000 children, US$14,444 is needed.
2. Trucking 15,000 litres of water within a distance of 100 km will cost US$277.
3. Monitoring visit will cost US$2500.
Thus, a total of US$16,945 is to be raised.
We are, therefore, requesting you as our friends, supporters and well wishers to kindly and urgently give what you have as we want to return a smile to our children in Northern and Eastern Kenya.
The raised money will be channeled through Kenya Red Cross, which has been doing a commendable job and needs the support.
You will be updated on a weekly basis on the collection received.
